10 Years of Community Harmony and Song
On Saturday 11th July 2026 we celebrated our 10th anniversary as West Byfleet Community Choir, with a wonderful community concert at St John’s Church in West Byfleet. We joined forces with West Byfleet Junior School Choir, Fullbrook Choir and Year 7 Choir (with their very talented, supporting musicians), Heathside Saxophone Ensemble and an incredibly gifted, 16 year old pianist from St George’s College. It was a fabulous evening, with the church filled with a wonderful audience, including the Mayor of Woking and a number of other VIPs, who all helped us raise money for Emma’s House Dementia Care Centre in Rowtown. Two choir members, Sarah and Marjorie, wrote endearing poems to describe the choir over the last 10 years which went down very well with everyone. We sang many old favourites from the last 10 years including a sea shanty, musical and pop medleys, classical pieces, jazz numbers and finished the evening with Gary Barlow’s “Sing”, where all the choirs came together for an incredible rendition, which was followed by a standing ovation. This was all made possible by the choir’s talented Musical Director, Andrew Broadbent and our incredible accompanist, Jayne Parkin.
The evening was seamlessly managed by our two comperes, Sarah and Roy and was organised by the choir committee and backstage team. A big thankyou to everyone involved and to all those who donated so generously. Here’s to the next 10 years of harmony and song!
